SL5 Control Catalog

Defining security for frontier AI development, based on the NIST SP 800-53 Control Catalog and the DoD IL6 standard.

About
Information Level 6 (IL6) is the standard used by DoD for cloud service providers working with classified secret information. IL6 is based on the NIST SP 800-53 control catalogue and is defined as including FedRAMP High, CNSSI 1253, the Classified Information Overlay, and FedRAMP+. Where there is disagreement, each of these takes precedence over the prior. SL5 is a standard to secure the development of frontier AI against nation state level attack. It uses IL6 as a starting point, but includes different selections as well as new controls. There is a baseline version of SL5, as well as additional overlays that can be selected based on further security assumptions.
